Low to High Concave Compared

Which skateboard concave is right for your deck?

Concave is the side-to-side curve across the standing surface of a skateboard deck. How pronounced it is affects how much you feel the rails under your feet and how responsive the deck feels.

Our concave options range from flat to more pronounced. Which one makes sense depends on the shape, your riding style and personal preference.

See how the different concaves compare and what they mean for you. The curves are for illustration only and don’t reflect actual measurements.

Low Concave

Flatter profile with a calm, stable feel underfoot. A good fit for cruisers and skaters who prefer less curve.

Mellow Concave

A slight curve between low and medium. You can feel the rails without your feet being locked in too much.

Medium Concave

A clearly noticeable curve with a balanced, all-round character. A go-to base for classic street decks.

High Concave

A more pronounced curve with clearly defined rails and a direct, locked-in feel.

Concave never works on its own

How a deck rides isn’t down to concave alone.

Deck width, wheelbase, nose, tail and shape all shape the overall geometry too. That’s why we always look at concave and shape together.
